Rose House
Project Overview
Rose House was a full home upgrade to one of Sydney’s most majestic terraces. Positioned high on a hill overlooking a bustling oval, the home is immersed in the energy of everyday life.
With clients who are passionate art collectors and deeply appreciative of honest design and natural materials, we were invited to guide the home into its next era. Allowing the artwork to remain the focal point, the interiors were layered with subtle tones and textures that reflect the richness of the Indigenous art collection throughout the home.
A material palette of solid blackbutt timber, rich red travertine, stainless steel, and natural stone was carefully composed to echo the colours and character of the landscape directly opposite, creating a home that feels both grounded and deeply connected to its surroundings.
Design Approach
The interior architecture centres on proportion, material integrity and the modulation of natural light.
A restrained material palette of timber, stone and tactile finishes establishes continuity throughout the home. Custom joinery elements were designed to seamlessly integrate storage into the architectural envelope, reinforcing both function and spatial calm.
Careful detailing at junctions — between floor and wall, joinery and glazing — ensures the project reads as a cohesive whole rather than a collection of finishes.
